Justin Binek è un cantante, pianista, educatore, insegnante e compositore/arrangiatore di musica jazz e classica. Binek gode di fama internazionale. È spesso presentatore e performer alle conferenze annuali del Jazz Education Network e ha contribuito in modo significativo al campo della pedagogia vocale jazz, intere pubblicazioni includono "The Art and Craft of Scat Singing and Melodic Alteration" (pubblicato nel libro: Jazz Singing di Diana Spradling: Developing Artistry and Authenticity, Sound Music Publications, 2007), "Vocal Pedagogy for the Jazz Singer" (co-scritto con Diana Spradling, pubblicato sul Choral Journal, 2015), e la sua tesi del 2017, "The evolution of Ella Fitzgerald's syllabic choices in scat singing: a critical analysis of her Decca recordings, 1943-1952." È anche insegnante presente nell'applicazione per iOS Michele Weir's ScatAbility.

 

Come artista, Justin ha pubblicato un album come bandleader, intitolato Songbook, insieme a numerose collaboraizoni come sideman. Justin è professore associato di teoria musicale e improvvisazione jazz al Kansas City Kansas Community College, e fa anche parte delle facoltà di insegnamento del Jazz Harmony Retreat (Creston, IA), dell'Halewynstichting Jazz Workshop (Dworp, Belgio) e del Songwriting & Music Production Camp (Tiffin, OH). In precedenza ha ricoperto incarichi di insegnamento presso la University of the Arts (Filadelfia, Pennsylvania) e la University of Mary (Bismarck, Dakota del Nord).
